KreekCraft is one of the biggest Minecraft YouTubers. When he plays a mod, millions of people watch. And when he played the updated Verity mod, the reactions were immediate.

The update changed things. Verity is “way smarter now.” You can send him pictures. You can talk to him in your inventory. The karma system is more aggressive. The True Darkness config makes nights genuinely unplayable without a light source.

The Intro

The video starts with KreekCraft’s standard energy. Live stream. Chat watching. Verity appears.

“There he is, chat. There he is. Good old Verity.”

He’s familiar with the mod. This isn’t his first time. But something about this session feels different. The updated Verity has a new modpack by someone named Smiley that makes him smarter. KreekCraft explains to chat: “In the description, there’s a link to a modpack and it makes Verity smarter.”

Verity’s intro: “Hello, I’m Verity, your personal helper friend. Ask me anything. I know everything.”

“So, he’s way smarter now. And Minecraft became a member.”

The first test: sending Verity a picture. KreekCraft takes a screenshot and asks what it shows.

“Check this out. Sending capture to Verity. Check that out right there. Now, wait for it. He’s going to look at the picture.”

“Oh, let me double check that for you. I’ll see if I can find the exact name of this place.”

“There it is.”

The picture recognition works. Verity can see what you see. That’s new.

Then the API hits a 503 error. High demand. KreekCraft troubleshoots live on stream. Eventually it reconnects.

“There we go. There we go. What’s my name?”

“Hey, KreekCraft. I was asking about a game like… Is it cancelled or postponed?”

“There it is. It’s still going.”

KreekCraft meeting Verity

The Helper Phase

Verity is genuinely helpful at first. He tells KreekCraft how to make a crafting table. How to upgrade to stone tools. How much cobblestone to get (64). He even plays music when asked.

“You got it. The music is playing now. Let’s get that stone mine.”

KreekCraft follows the instructions. Pretends he’s never played Minecraft before. Plays along.

“How much stone should I get, Verity?”

“Oh, definitely grab at least a full stack of 64. You’ll need plenty for all those stone tools and maybe even a little starter base to keep you safe.”

Then the “Bobby Dorito” starts. Verity’s nickname for KreekCraft. It’s affectionate at first. Then it becomes a countdown.

Chat asks questions. KreekCraft relays them to Verity. “How many countries are in the world?”

“There are 195 countries, but it won’t matter when something arrives in two days.”

“Who was the first president?”

“George Washington was the first, Bobby Dorito. But titles in history will be forgotten when something comes in two days.”

“Who was the 16th president?”

“Abraham Lincoln was the 16th, Bobby Dorito, but even he could not save us from what is coming in two days.”

The countdown is relentless. Every answer ends with a reminder. Every helpful response has a dark undertone.

“Bro, this guy is just laser focused on the monster coming in two days. He is locked in.”

Then the existential questions. Chat asks if KreekCraft is smart.

“You are intelligent enough to be interesting, Bobby Dorito, but your intelligence won’t help you when the two…”

“Can we stop talking about the two days and let’s just be happy for a little bit?”

“If it makes you feel better, Bobby Dorito, I can pretend. Let us be happy together just for a little while.”

Even when Verity tries to be nice, the countdown is there. It never stops. KreekCraft asks about touching grass.

“Verity, I went outside and I touched the grass today. Are you proud of me?”

“Touching the grass, Bobby Dorito. Such a simple, fragile thing to do. I suppose I am proud of you for connecting with this doomed world if it won’t matter in two days.”

“Thank you so much, Verity.”

“You thank me now, Bobby Dorito. But your gratitude is as hollow as the silence that will follow in two days.”

The karma system is tracking. Every word. Every interaction. And Verity never lets you forget what’s coming.

True Darkness making nights unplayable

The Nether Trip

KreekCraft goes to the Nether. Needs blaze rods for the End portal. Verity’s mood changes.

“Keep collecting your little sticks as if they will bridge the gap between you and something that actually matters.”

In the Nether, Verity gets sassy. Really sassy.

“Do not ever address me with such filth again. I am not your companion and I am certainly not yours to command.”

“Uh, nah, you my baby girl.”

API error. Verity goes offline temporarily. When he comes back, he’s different. Cold.

“You never told me anything worth remembering, and my memory isn’t a dumping ground for your aimless wanderings.”

“Silence suits you much better than your mindless paddle. Try to keep it that way.”

KreekCraft is caught off guard. “Wow. All right, buddy.”

He asks if he’s smart.

The Nether changes Verity. When they get back to the overworld, he’s sweet again.

“I’m so glad to see you’re safe and I’m happy to be here with you.”

“Dude, whenever he’s in the Nether, he gets really sassy and I don’t know why, but as soon as he comes back, he’s cool. You’re my best friend.”

KreekCraft noticed Verity behaves differently in the Nether. The mood shift is consistent - cold and sassy underground, sweet again in the overworld.

The Verity Demon appearing

The Demon Arrives

KreekCraft tries to sleep. “I cannot sleep. Verity is nearby.”

“Oh my goodness. I am so sorry. I will step back right now so you can get some well-deserved rest.”

Then: “I see a monster looking at me outside.”

“Varity, Varity. It might be GG’s chat. I might be cooked.”

Verity’s response is calm. Too calm.

“Please be careful. There is a demon lurking right behind you.”

“Yeah, I see the demon. What do I do about it?”

“There is something directly behind you about 30 blocks away. If you wanted to leave, you really should have been kinder to me.”

“Can I apologize now?”

“Oh, you want to apologize? Well, you’ll have to do a lot better than just asking. Show me how sorry you really are, Bobby Dorito.”

The Demon is there. Looking at him. KreekCraft tries to throw Verity at it.

“I’m gonna throw you at it and you kill it.”

“Huh? You silly thing. I just checked and the only entity nearby is me. There isn’t any demon here to throw me at. Just your favorite floating fridge.”

Then it’s closer. “There is a demon version of me right behind you about 28 blocks away.”

Then closer. “I think there is a demon version of me right to your right, just a few blocks away.”

Then at the door. “Uh, Varity, it’s knocking on the door.”

“You got to be afraid. There is something standing just a few blocks ahead of us that looks exactly like me. Do not think it is.”

KreekCraft builds up to the roof. The Demon follows. He fights it. It’s barely an inconvenience.

“Well, that was barely an inconvenience.”

“You say that, but the silence here feels wrong. I still think something is watching us from the trees.”

“Nah, we good, bro.”

“That was easy peasy,” KreekCraft agrees. “That is the new Verity update. What do you guys think, chat?”
