Is Verity Mod Real?

Yes, Verity is real. Verity JE is a publicly listed Minecraft Java mod on both CurseForge and Modrinth — around 160,000 downloads and counting. Project page says it’s an “official adaptation of the Verity property, created and published with explicit permission and contractual agreement from ThatMob,” the creator behind the original Verity video.

Problem isn’t that the mod is fake. Problem is everything else calling itself “Verity” might be. Once a mod gets popular, the shady reupload sites pile on, and some of those files are old, broken, or worse. This page is how you make sure you’ve got the real one.

Quick safety checklist

Before you install anything, run through this:

More than one thing on the right side applies? Delete the file and re-download from CurseForge or Modrinth.

The two real sources

Only trust these two links:

Both platforms scan uploads for malware before publishing. Files from “free mod” aggregators, YouTube link shorteners, TikTok link-in-bio pages, Discord DMs, or random forums — not verified. Delete and re-download from one of the above.

How to verify your file

Step 1 — Where’d it come from?

Didn’t download from CurseForge or Modrinth? Unverified. Full stop. Go get it from one of those two.

Step 2 — Check the file name and version

Genuine Verity JE files follow a naming pattern. Current versions:

NeoForge	1.21.1	3.4.1	verity-je-3.4.1+neoforge.jar (or similar)

A file called verity_mod_free_premium.jar, VerityHack.jar, VerityAI_setup.exe, or — big red flag — any .exe or .apk is not the real mod.

Step 3 — Check the file size

Go to the file page on CurseForge or Modrinth, note the published file size. Compare to your download. Significantly bigger (some fake files are 50-100 MB because they bundle malware) or significantly smaller (broken or incomplete)? Don’t use it.

Step 4 — Check the hash (if published)

If the file page shows a SHA-256 hash, compute the hash of your download and compare:

Has to match exactly. One character off means the file was tampered with. (If no hash is published, just rely on the source and file metadata.)

What fake sites look like

Fake Verity download sites share common patterns. Watch out for:

• Domain names that look similar but aren’t official. Real: curseforge.com, modrinth.com. Fake: anything with “verity” in the domain that claims to host the file directly.
• “Download” buttons that are actually ads. Clicking “Download” opens a new tab or starts downloading something that isn’t a .jar? Ad.
• A separate “installer” or “downloader.” Real Verity is a single .jar file. Don’t need a loader program, a setup wizard, or a launcher.
• “Premium” or “VIP” versions. Real Verity is free. No paid tier. Any site selling “Verity Premium” is a scam.
• Instructions to disable antivirus. Legitimate mod never needs this. Site tells you to turn off Windows Defender or your antivirus? Close the page immediately.
• Outdated or wrong Minecraft versions. Site offers “Verity for Minecraft 1.16” or “Verity for Bedrock”? Fake. Real mod only supports Forge 1.20.1 and NeoForge 1.21.1.

”Verity” on other platforms

Reality:

• “Verity Bedrock” — No official Bedrock version exists. Any .mcaddon or .mcpack claiming to be Verity is unofficial or fake. Details →
• “Verity for Forge 1.19” or other old versions — Real mod only targets 1.20.1 (Forge) and 1.21.1 (NeoForge). Older versions not supported.
• “Verity Free Download” on random sites — Site isn’t CurseForge or Modrinth? File unverified. Might be old version, modified version, or malware.
• GitHub source ZIP — GitHub repository has source code. “Download ZIP” button on GitHub gives you source code, not a playable mod. Need the compiled .jar from CurseForge or Modrinth.

Already installed a fake

1. Stop playing. Close Minecraft.
2. Delete the suspicious file and anything that came with it from your mods folder.
3. Run a full antivirus scan. Use Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, or whatever you trust.
4. Re-download from CurseForge or Modrinth only. Follow the verification steps above.
5. Typed your Minecraft/Microsoft password into a sketchy site? Change it now. Enable two-factor authentication on your Microsoft account if you haven’t already.

Community reports

Verity community tracks fake sites and bad files. Found something suspicious?

• Check the CurseForge or Modrinth page comments for warnings.
• Join the Discord linked on the project page and report it there.
• Don’t engage with the fake site — just close it and report.
